The West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Lacrosse team lost at home to Notre Dame College 24-2 this afternoon in the MEC opener. The Falcons had 42 shots as the Bobcats only got four shots off. WVWC turned it over 19 times with NDC turning it over just seven times.
The Falcons came out and ran their offense slowly but it worked to perfection, scoring the first goal of the game at the 12:09 mark of the 1st Quarter. Notre Dame scored three more goals until Makenzi Lewellyn put the Bobcats on the board, trimming the NDC lead to 4-1. The Falcons netted another goal before the end of the quarter to take a 5-1 lead into the 2nd Quarter.
Notre Dame really kicked it into gear in the 2nd, not allowing a single shot from the Bobcats and scoring eight goals on 13 shots. WVWC was forced into six turnovers in the quarter and the Falcons took a 13-1 lead into the break.
Makenzi Lewellyn scored her second goal of the game at the 10:14 mark as NDC led 14-2. The Falcons scored five more goals before the 3rd Quarter ended, leading 19-2 after three quarters of play.
NDC continued their offensive attack in the 4th Quarter, scoring five goals on just seven shots. They held the Bobcats to just two shots and turned them over three times. The Falcons left with the 24-2 win, earning the MEC win.
Jamira Mashore led the offensive attack for the Falcons, scoring four goals and handing out four assists. 11 Falcons scored at least one goal while three of those Falcons scored three.
Makenzi Lewellyn had both goals for the Bobcats. Gabriella Gomez recorded nine saves for the day.
