Preview: Bobcats Travel To Philippi For Pivotal MEC Matchup With Battlers

West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Basketball hits the road for a pivotal matchup with Alderson Broaddus on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Battlers won a close one earlier in the season in Buckhannon 76-71. The two teams are apart of a three-way tie for 10th in the MEC standings.

ALDERSON BROADDUS BATTLERS
The Battlers enter (4-16) overall and (3-12) in MEC play. The Battlers have hit a skid, losers of their last six games with their last loss being to Davis & Elkins on the road 93-79 on Wednesday.

AB leads the league in blocked shots, blocking 3.75 shots per game. The Battlers haven't been able to be consistent from behind the arc, ranking last in Team 3PFG% (24%) and 3PFGs Made (4.1 AVG/G). Alderson Broaddus also ranks last in the league in Scoring Defense, giving up 85.6 PPG.

Iyahnna Williams is the 4th leading scorer in the MEC and leads the Battlers, averaging 18.5 PPG. Williams is 5th in the league in rebounding at 8.1 RPG and she also ranks 8th in FG%, shooting 46%. Hannah Taylor (12.4 PPG), Cassandra Smith (10.7 PPG) and Amil Mitchell (10.5 PPG) are the other featured scorers for AB.

Ta-Rel Franklin is in his first season as the Head Coach of the Battlers. Franklin was previously an assistant for the AB Men's Basketball team for three seasons. Prior to AB, he was an assistant at Bluffton University and Hendrix College.

WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS
The Bobcats (4-14) overall and (3-12) in MEC play. Wesleyan picked up a huge win at home on Wednesday against Notre Dame College 75-68.

Wesleyan's strong defense continues to stay at the top half of the league, sitting 3rd in Scoring Defense at 68.2 PPG allowed. The Bobcats outside shooting has improved, now ranking 6th in Team 3PFG% (30%).

Emma Witt's average is back up to 15.0 PPG after a 19-point performance against Notre Dame College. Witt is pulling down 6.1 RPG while Daveona Hatchell is still leading the team at 6.3 RPG. Courtney Wilfong leads the team in assists at 3.3 APG.
