A Trio of Bobcats Score Double-Figures in the Rockefeller Center

The West Virginia Wesleyan (0-4, 0-4) women's basketball team fell in a home game to Wheeling (5-1, 3-1) on Saturday (Dec. 3) afternoon inside the Rockefeller Center.
 
WVWC Leaders
Emma Witt had a team-leading 13 points and brought down five rebounds to go along with a team-leading four assists. Electra Allembert and Shelby Genes each added 12 points. Daveona Hatchell and Cierra Tollbert had a team-leading six rebounds. 
 
Inside the First Half
Allembert made a hook shot to begin play and the Bobcats led 2-0. Wheeling scored seven straight points and led 7-2. After a jump shot from Allembert and a three-point jumper from Daveona Hatchell, WVWC tied the score 7-7 before Alani Murray found the bottom of the net on a jumper to put the Bobcats back in front, 9-7 with 4:27 left to play in the first quarter. Trailing 10-9, WVWC had back-to-back jumpers from Emma Witt and Allembert and led 13-10. The Cardinals cut the deficit to one on a Lauren Calhoun layup and trailed 13-12 to end the first quarter. 
 
The Cardinals began the second quarter on a 5-0 run and led 17-13. A layup from Witt tied the score at 17-17 with 6:12 remaining in the second quarter. The two teams would battle back and forth, exchanging possessions for the remainder of the second quarter, and were tied 24-24 going into halftime. 

Inside the Second Half
 Allembert started the second half the same way she began the game, scoring the first points of the second half and WVWC led 26-24. After an 8-2 run, the Cardinals led 34-28. Shelby Genes came off the bench for some big minutes earning her first bucket with 3:12 left in the third quarter and the Bobcats trailed 36-32. After a three-point shot from Wheeling, Daveona Hatchell drilled a jumper as time expired and the Bobcats trailed 39-34. Wheeling gained a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter and WVWC couldn't get back into the game falling to the Cardinals, 61-50. 

Up Next
The Bobcats are scheduled to host Salem in a non-conference matchup on Monday (Dec. 5) inside the Rockefeller Center at 5:30 p.m.
