Elkins-Randolph County Tourism: What can those who purchase tickets expect on this trip?DGVR: This scenic, four-hour train ride meanders through remote parts of West Virginia alongside the winding Tygart Valley River, past raging rapids, large boulders, and the picturesque Wilmoth Falls.
On the trip to Tygart Junction, enjoy a cold-cut lunch, included in the ticket price. This is the ride for you if you’re looking for comfort and spectacular river views on a vintage train!
Elkins-Randolph County Tourism: Where does the train depart?DGVR: You’ll pick up this trip from the Historic Elkins Depot at 315 Railroad Ave, Elkins, West Virginia. There is plenty of parking next to the Elkins Depot, marked with yellow signs.
Elkins-Randolph County Tourism: When are the train excursions?DGVR: This winter train ride will operate on Fridays and Saturdays beginning January 13th through March 18th! The train departs at 11am, with trips boarding at 10:45am. It is recommended to arrive at the depot no later than 10:30am. If passengers have access to their tickets via a mobile device or in printed form, that is preferred and does not require checking in prior to boarding. If passengers need their tickets printed, our ticket window generally opens between 10:00-10:15am.
