The West Virginia University Extension, in partnership with the West Virginia Community Educational Outreach Service (WVCEOS), is offering a series of virtual classes in October as a part of the “Helpful Hands” Leadership and Enrichment Conference. The courses, which will be offered virtually, are free and open to the public.
“The planning team has put together an excellent lineup of classes that are diverse and engaging,” WVU Extension CEOS President Connie Wolfinger said. “These free courses cover everything from history, health, safety, crafts, and food demos – there is something for everyone.”
The online classes begin October 5 and run through October 21 and times/days vary to provide opportunities for audiences to participate. The virtual sessions will run in mornings and afternoons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Participants can choose to sign up for courses on a host of topics, including West Virginia Women in Basketball, Wine a little – Laugh a lot, The ABCs of Pruning, American Fashion through the Decades, Walk with Ease, Diet Fads and Fasting, Haunting History – the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Music in the Mountain State and more.
WVU Extension experts provide food demonstrations on rose apple tarts, soup making and ideas to change up your breakfast. Participants who are interested in arts and crafts can also tune in to learn how to make a penny rug and tiny cup bouquets.
All courses will be offered through Zoom. WVU Extension experts will provide a “Zoom intro” session prior to the conference to help Zoom newcomers learn the basics of this virtual video platform. Full details, including the schedule and registration information is available on the WVU Extension CEOS Conference website. Deadline to register is Oct. 1.
