The West Virginia Wesleyan (3-8-1, 3-6-1) women's soccer team fell to Concord (7-4-1, 5-4-1) on Sunday (Oct. 9) night at the Paul Cline Sports Complex.
Wesleyan was outshot in the first half, 13-4. Ally Moore made six saves and kept the Mountain Lions off the scoreboard. Ellie Pergolotti, Ava Badallo and Kennedy Samargo all registered a shot on goal in the first half for the 'Cats. The game remained scoreless after 45 minutes of action.
Concord continued to apply pressure on Wesleyan's defense in the second half. The Mountain Lions fired four shots within the first seven minutes of the second period. Concord broke through in the 55th minute when Jayme Millard assisted Leah Foster for the game's first goal. CU struck again in the 58th minute after Michelle Brogden placed a ball into the back of the net. The home team added its third goal in the 73rd minute via an own goal from Wesleyan, and Anna Davis concluded the Concord scoring run with a goal of her own in the 76th minute.
The Mountain Lions outshot WVWC 29-6 in the game and 16-2 in the second half. Concord attempted 15 corner kicks while holding the Bobcats to three. Moore made a total of 15 saves in the game and CU goalkeeper Leah Marsh made three.
WVWC women's soccer is set to welcome Glenville State to Buckhannon on Wednesday (Oct. 12).
