August 29, 2022, BUCKHANNON, WV: The Consolidated Public Works Board held a special meeting today to consider one agenda item, which was a Discussion/Possible Vote – Event Request & Street Closure – Almost Heaven BBQ Bash – at Jawbone Park on June 16 & 17, 2023. The vote was unanimous to approve the item. This cleared the way for the Almost Heaven BBQ Bash Board of Directors to name Buckhannon as the Host City for the 2023 Almost Heaven BBQ Bash.
This is the first time since 2016 that the event will be held in Buckhannon (the event was held here in both 2015 & 2016) and is something that Mayor Robbie Skinner has been working on for well over a year. He noted: “Our public works departments, myself, and event board members have met several times over the past year in an effort to bring this wonderful event to Jawbone Park.”
