Republican Jack Woodrum has won his election bid for Senate District 10, defeating Democratic opponent William Laird.

Woodrum expressed gratitude in the following statement posted on his Facebook page on Nov. 3.

“I would like to thank the residents of the 10th Senatorial District comprising Greenbrier, Monroe, Fayette, and Summers Counties for choosing me to represent you in the West Virginia State Senate. I am humbled that you would place your faith and trust in me. This is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I will endeavor to represent you with the utmost accountability and transparency.

“I recognize that I represent all the residents in our district. I know we disagree on some things, but I also know that we are all trying to accomplish what is best for our communities. I believe we agree on more than we disagree on and together we can find a way to accomplish our shared goals.

“I would also like to thank my campaign manager, Ben Anderson, our advisors, and all the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to help us achieve this accomplishment. Also, I would thank the leadership of the Senate Republicans for their wisdom and encouragement during my campaign.

Lastly, I would like to thank my wife, family, and friends for their unending support, But most of all, I would like to thank you, the voters for using your voice, and your vote, to express your confidence in me. Thank you for all the prayers and for this opportunity to serve you and the great State of West Virginia.”
